Vernon Fimple created some of the finest art in modern times.
Vernon Fimple (1931-2018) was an American painter and sculptor who created fine art from 1957 to 2018. His works are in collections all over the United States. He held numerous residencies at The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, NM.
Vernon was a rather elusive artist who had a number of exhibitions in Los Angeles in the early sixties, at the Parsons Gallery, the Galerie De Ville, and the Zora Gallery (these exhibitions were reviewed in the then new Artforum (Volume I, issues 1 and 10, and Volume III, issue 7). These were followed by a one man show in 1965 at the ACA Gallery in New York City. He was the recipient of a number of fellowships and residencies (MacDowell Colony, Yaddo Residency, Wurlitzer Foundation, Ragdale Foundation, etc.) in the years that followed. Vernon Fimple maintained studios in California (Venice)in the sixties, in Spain for a year, in New Mexico (Albuquerque) in the seventies. He spent his later years in Clifton, Arizona and held a deep affinity for the Painted Desert.
